The Story of Reach

The founder of Reach Centre for Autism, Ms. Lata Iyer, is a special educator with experience for over 2 decades, and also the proud parent of an Autistic individual, Anushka. While working with and trying to understand the world of her daughter through her perspective, Ms Iyer realized the need for establishing a centre that connects autistic individuals and their parents with a team of experts. The key objective of this initiative is to ensure that individuals on the spectrum achieve functional independence and have access to a support network.

We have received a great response from Reach Centre. Their staff is always supportive and kind. By joining this Centre 80% of our load is reduced.
We had lost all hope from mainstream schools but by joining Reach, we now have hopes that our son can have a better future. And the centre head Lata Ma’am is always supportive. We are very thankful to all the teachers of Reach Centre.

As a parent of a child with Autism, finding a nurturing, understanding, and empowering environment is everything—and we found that at this incredible Centre Reach.
Under the compassionate leadership of Lata Iyer Ma’am, and a team of teachers whose passion is evident in every interaction, my son is thriving. Lata Ma’am is not just an educator; she is a visionary who truly believes in the potential of every child, regardless of the challenges they face. My son has blossomed—gaining confidence, joy, and a sense of belonging I had long hoped for. Their unwavering support and tailored approach have made all the difference. As a mother, I feel deeply reassured knowing that my child is seen, valued, and guided with such intentional care.

In 2022, I faced one of the most heartbreaking moments as a parent—realizing that my son was struggling deeply in school. He couldn’t read like children his age, nor could he solve basic math problems.
We tried a regular classroom, tuition classes, and various centres, but nothing seemed to work. It was frustrating, painful, and discouraging. But I never gave up hope. Deep down, I believed God would guide me, and He did. I moved to Vadodara from my hometown in search of better educational support for my child. I visited many institutions, but none of them addressed the needs of students like my son—children who don’t necessarily fall under the Autism spectrum but struggle to keep up in regular academic settings. Then one day, I stepped into Reach Autism Centre, with little hope and low expectations, assuming from the name that it catered only to Autistic children. But to my surprise and relief, I met Lata Ma’am, who explained that the centre also has a dedicated NIOS wing—specifically designed for students who are slow learners or cannot cope in traditional classrooms. I cannot express how grateful I was to hear this. No other school, tuition, or centre had offered such a tailored solution. Lata Ma’am, being a parent of a special child herself, understood my emotional journey and challenges in a way no one else could. She and her team offered not just academic support, but emotional understanding, patience, and genuine care. They create customized learning plans for each child, helping them progress in reading, writing, and even prepare for important milestones like the 10th and 12th board exams. The staff is qualified, compassionate, and deeply committed. They work patiently with children even if they have behavioural issues, always focusing on the child’s growth and success. To any parent out there who feels lost, worried, and unsure where to go—Reach Autism Centre is a beacon of hope. If your child is a slow learner, has learning difficulties, or cannot thrive in regular schools, this place might be your answer. They understand your child, and more importantly, they believe in your child.I thank God every day for guiding me to this wonderful place.

About Autism

Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects communication and behaviour. It affects individuals differently and to varying degrees.

Early signs may include limited eye contact, delayed speech or non-verbal communication, repetitive behaviours, lack of interest in peer interaction, and hypo /hyper - sensitivity to sounds or textures. It is important to consult a specialist in case any of the above symptoms are observed.

Autism is not a disease and has no “cure.” Early intervention, therapy and support can significantly improve communication and behaviour. However, medication may be recommended for certain symptoms or co-morbidities
